EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
2001 - 2004 Freeform Studios
- As Freeform Studios I provide a specialist 3D digital modelling service and consultancy, introducing companies to the advantages of FreeForm and time compression technologies. I am recommended by SensAble as a service provider and acknowledged as the specialist in this field in the UK. As a trained sculptor with teaching and assessing qualifications I am able to work with people across a wide range of industries from animation to industrial design. My work with SensAble and the Hothouse Design Centre in Stoke On Trent has enabled me to gain an insight into the creative design processes in different sectors of the industry as well as the appropriate use of rapid prototyping and other time compression technologies. This experience continues to develop with every new client and opportunity that arises.
- I have worked with many companies on projects such as a
laser scan of a 12th Century Buddha for National Museums Liverpool, reinstating the Spirit of Ecstasy for Rolls Royce Motors, a benchmark figurine for Royal Doulton and a cow creamer, hen and pigs
for Bridgwater Pottery, now in production.
- I was guest speaker at "The Future of Work Exhibition" in
Paris, on digital sculpture. I also participated in a seminar on digital art that was broadcast over the Internet.
- Presentations and lectures on FreeForm to the Rapid
Prototyping and Manufacturing Association at Loughborough, The Leading by Design and Fit for Production working groups organised by CERAM and the Ceramic Industry Forum. Universities including Leeds,
Sheffield Hallam and the Manchester Metropolitan University. Technology centres such as the IMC in Nottingham, The Jewellery Industry Innovations Centre Birmingham, The Hothouse Design and Technology
Centre, Stoke On Trent.
- I have built up good relationships with Rapid Prototyping
Companies such as Zcorp, 3D systems, Stratasys and Objet.
- Delegate at the Time Compression Technologies and Solid modelling shows since 2000
- Artist in residence at the Intersculpt 2001 Biennial
